Attendance
We all know that being in school and being on time as often as possible is essential in helping our students make the most of their education. We will be monitoring attendance patterns to help us find the best ways to support our students in getting to school as often as possible.
We are here to support you with your student's attendance by:
- Reaching out to see how we can support you getting your child to school more consistently
- Scheduling a home-visit to further see how we can support you getting your child to school more consistently
Our goal will always be to help you help your student get to school as often as possible. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the school if you have any questions so that we can work together with you in helping the student.
For a full explanation of all the Malden Public School policies, refer to the Malden Public Schools Attendance Policy.
School-Wide Expectations
Our Ferryway Educators have all shared their specific expectations with students, families, and caregivers, so there may be some individual expectations that your child's grade-level/teacher may have for their students. However, collectively our school community expects:
- Students are giving effective effort to their academics both in school and at home
- Students are reading and completing their homework at home each night it is assigned
- Students are respectful, responsible, and safe with both words AND actions in every area of the school
- Students are kind to one another and demonstrate empathy
- Students understand that mistakes happen, but should be working to not only not make the same mistakes but also to actively restore any relationships that may have been impacted
- Students will always put forth their very best effort both academically and behaviorally every day at Ferryway School
We believe in supporting our students progressively with regard to our expectations, and we will follow the steps below in that work:
- Restorative Actions
- Letters of Apology/Reflection
- Parent Contact/Meeting
- Time Outs
- Lunch/Recess Detentions
- Afterschool Detentions
- In-School Detentions
- In-House Suspensions
- Out-of-School Suspensions
In addition, we will work with families individually to craft a support system for students that helps them live up to the expectations we set for them each and everyday at Ferryway School.
